Rain came on Sunday during the final day of the USTA Men’s Pro Tennis Championships of Calabasas with No. 2 seeded Ryan Sweeting leading Australia’s Marinko Matosevic, 6-2, 1-2, and play was called for the day.

The final singles match will resume on Monday at 11 a.m. PT.

In the doubles final, Southern California’s Travis Rettenmaier and 18-year-old Ryan Harrison beat No. 4 seeded Rik de Voestand Bobby Reynolds, 6-3, 6-3. The No. 3 seeded team of Rettenmaier-Harrison had never played before.

“He’s the future of American tennis,” Rettenmaier told the crowd afterward. “I’d be smart to pair with him for the next 10 years. He could put some serious money in my pockets.”

Before the match Brian Earley, director of USTA Pro Circuits and the U.S. Open Referee, gave Top Seed President and tournament promoter Steve McAvoy and tournament director Jeff Richards a plaque commemorating 10 years of Pro Circuit tennis.

“Ten years of tournaments on the Pro Circuit is a significant milestone and I’m happy to be here to help celebrate it,” said Earley. “You guys do a great job and it’s a great accomplishment.”

Once again, 10sBalls.com is proud to have come on board as a sponsor of the Calabasas event. We want to thank tournament director, Jeff Richards and his entire team, for putting on such a great event. Anyone living in the Los Angeles or southern California region should try and make it to see the close of the match.
