It won't be quite as manic of a second Monday this time around at Wimbledon. Three men's third-round matches have not yet been completed, so only the top half of the draw will be making its way into the fourth round. Both Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray are bidding for quarterfinal spots.
I’d love to start tonight’s entry by saying both girls won, but that didn’t happen. With the mosquitoes leading 27-2, it’s been a rough day in the trenches.
The first week of Wimbledon has come and gone and the second will begin without either Williams sister.( in singles , they are playing doubles together , and have a second round match on Monday) . Venus Williams lost arguably the best match of the women's tournament so far, as she went down to Petra Kvitova 5-7, 7-6(2), 7-5 on Friday.

Middle Sunday @ wimby. Serena & Venus are both out of the singles, but they aren't packing up & leaving London just yet. They are playing doubles together. Not the same for Flipkens. She is out. Sorry Flip. Once you've tasted semis at Wimbledon one tends to put too much pressure on themselves.

The Championships’ venue was growing darker, waiting for a Saturday filled with rain to come to an end. (The outer courts have no lights.) The scheduled play had been delayed for most of the day because of the rain. Those last matches were being frantically conducted into the twilight, trying for some catch up.
Eugenie Bouchard (Westmount, Que.) and Milos Raonic (Thornhill, Ont.) have both earned a place in the round of 16 at Wimbledon for the first time in their careers following third-round victories over Andrea Petkovic of Germany and Lukasz Kubot of Poland respectively on a rain-soaked Saturday in London.
The end of a third round match in the women’s competition at The Championships revealed a winner who was a former Wimbledon champ. Even though one of the contestants was Venus Williams who was the champion here five times, today a match delivered an outcome that she didn’t want.
Before the middle Sunday of no play at Wimbledon, the third round will wrap up with what should be a bang on Saturday. Both Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are back in action and taking on unseeded opponents. Perhaps the most intriguing matchup pits John Isner against Feliciano Lopez.
The girls made the cut for this week’s tournament and qualifying starts tomorrow, although their intro to pro tennis comes with its attendant difficulties.
