Third-round action begins on Friday at Wimbledon with the side of the draw featuring Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray but suddenly lacking David Ferrer. Among those also in action are Grigor Dimitrov, Alexandr Dolgopolov, Tomas Berdych, and Marin Cilic.
The two biggest names in tennis are still in the Wimbledon draw despite each having tough second-round matchups on Thursday. Rafael Nadal exacted revenge for a 2012 defeat at the All-England Club by overcoming Lukas Rosol in four sets.
For the third time this year, Canadians Eugenie Bouchard (Westmount, QC) and Milos Raonic (Thornhill, ON) have both reached the third round of a Grand Slam. For his part, Frank Dancevic (Niagara Falls, ON) was defeated in the second round.

Excitement may be like beauty. In essence, it is in the eye of the beholder. Lots of things are that way. Several men’s matches were filled with tense moments – just one element within the definition of excitement. But Wednesday at The Championships, the women’s matches were really not out of the ordinary.

Tradition holds that on the first Tuesday of The Championships, the initial match that is contended on Centre Court feature the Ladies Champion from the previous year. Last year, Marion Bartoli laid claim to the Venus Rosewater Dish when she defeated Sabine Lisicki, 6-1, 6-4.
