So Global Chick hits the road once more, and worked diligently on the plane to preview the week ahead in sunny Madrid. What a difference a couple of hours makes. The sun was NOT shining, and stars fell a-plenty today on ladies day at The Magic Box.

This was as close as it looks; the two Czechs were hitting hard and well. But Petra Kvitova has a huge edge in big-match experience, and perhaps it showed.

At least Ana Ivanovic didn't get her blood pressure checked. She took a timeout during the match, but it was to have an existing abdominal strain re-taped. She still produced a quality match, coming back from a 4-1 deficit in the first set before struggling in the last two.
