Roger Federer vs. Novak Djokovic is all the rage in the bottom half of the U.S. Open men's singles bracket. And deservedly so.
Rafael Nadal will be back on the court when he faces Guido Pella in the French Open second round on Thursday. Pella is one Argentine who certainly does not have a good chance of advancing.

“I felt fine,” said Andy Murray, having dispatched Julien Benneteau 6-3, 6-4 as if it was perfectly normal to be playing one’s sixth consecutive tournament in six straight weeks. But what Murray has achieved during that barnstorming run that has made him all but certain of a place amongst the top eight at the ATP Finals in London is anything but normal.

U.S. Open runner-up Kei Nishikori took the court for the first time since his incredible run in New York when he kicked off his campaign as the No. 1 seed at the Malaysian Open on Wednesday. Japan's top player began in style, rolling over American Rajeev Ram 6-2, 6-3 in one hour and four minutes.
The U.S. Open gets underway on Monday and what should be hot start will feature Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, and Stan Wawrinka. Among those also kicking off their fortnights are Canadians Milos Raonic and Vasek Pospisil plus Toronto champion Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
Roger Federer took care of Milos Raonic 6-2, 6-3 in the semifinals of the Western & Southern Open on Saturday night. Federer, who made similarly short 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 work of Raonic in the Wimbledon semis, needed just one hour and eight minutes to set up a final showdown against David Ferrer.
What a difference a year makes. In 2013, Roger Federer lost in the second round of Wimbledon, got unceremoniously bounced out of two clay-court events, then lost to nemesis Rafael Nadal in the Cincinnati quarterfinals. One summer later, Federer finished runner-up at Wimbledon and the Rogers Cup and he is now through to the Cincinnati semifinals.
