It looked pretty certain for a short time during play at the 48th annual ASICS Easter Bowl on Thursday that the event might lose its top-seeded player in the ITF 18s for a second consecutive day.
The young and precocious shined brightest Wednesday at the 48th annual ASICS Easter Bowl. Wild-card entry and 13-year-old Caty McNally of Cincinnati shocked top-seeded Usue Arconada of College Park, Md., 6-4, 7-5, in the second round of the ITF Girls’ 18s singles being played at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.
On a day the USTA announced Martin Blackman as its new General Manager of Player Development, and last year’s ASICS Easter Bowl Boys’ 18s champion Francis Tiafoe signed a professional contract with Jay Z’s Roc Nation, all four boys’ and girls’ divisions played on a busy Monday at the 48th annual ASICS Easter Bowl.

First up on court, as the clouds were burnt away was Jelena Jankovic. Matches where she is facing someone for the first time are always 50/50 where Jankovic is concerned but she came out firing, quickly building up a lead, and it became clear that Lesia Tsurenko was struggling.

Thursday at the BNP Paribas Open lacked a little bit of luster. But think of it as a calm before the storm. Andy Murray destroyed Feliciano Lopez (what's new?), and despite the lopsidedness it was still the most competitive singles match of the afternoon.
Have you ever wondered what the players eat during these big tournaments? Surely they don’t subsist on the same stadium food the rest of us consume, right? I mean, how could you possibly play 2-3 hours of intense hardcourt tennis in 90+ degree heat after eating a hotdog and fries?
When in Rome, eat Pizza, and when in California, this global chick learned that a Californian Burger has avocado and Swiss cheese. Useful stuff!
