For someone who swears she felt like a cow on ice each time she was competing on red clay only a few years ago, Maria Sharapova has made herself right at home on the surface, having won six of her last eight titles on terre battue. It has become her friend and a good friend indeed.
If Dominika Cibulkova has a favorite animal, it has to be the chameleon. When she first came up, her speed made her a clay player. Then she turned into an indoor hardcourt player. This year, she's an outdoor hardcourt player, with the Australian Open final on her record and now this.
Maria Sharapova no longer has any chance at the #1 Roland Garros seed, but she clearly still wants to show that she is the best clay player out there.
