The Australian Open has increased its travel allowance for players, giving more than $1,088,000 to assist with expenses for coming for the tournament. This is in addition to other expense amounts given by the tournament, which include $300 a day for accommodations and $60 a day for meals, according to the New York Times.
Grand Slams almost always shake things up in the rankings because so many points are available compared to other tournaments. This time around, the Australian Open did not have a massive impact. That being said, there were at least a handful of ATP players who made some significant moves--either good or bad.

Novak Djokovic became the second man in history to win five Australian Open titles when he defeated Andy Murray 76(3) 67(4) 63 60 in the men’s final on Rod Laver Arena. Only Roy Emerson had previously won more titles, winning six between 1961 and 1967.
When it came to interruptions, this match had almost everything. A spectator invaded the court in the second set. Everyone was trying to hear if Andy Murray's girlfriend Kim Sears would use impolite words again (there is no firm evidence either way, but she did show up in a T-shirt carrying a "parental advisory").
And so ‘twas ever thus. Novak Djokovic continued his unbeaten run in the finals of the Australian Open with a four set win over Andy Murray 7-6(5) 6-7(4) 6-3 6-0. Was it an epic, no. But is it a sign that Djokovic could go on to achieve his career slam? Yes.
It's only January, but London can go ahead and starting getting ready for Fabio Fognini. That's right; the volatile Italian is likely heading to the World Tour Finals.
Could it be possible, is it feasible? No – not whether Maria Sharapova could snap that fast-becoming-Berdych-esque losing streak against Serena Williams, but could she get that to that 22nd Slam title to put her level with Steffi Graf?
The all-important question is which Novak Djokovic is going to show up for Sunday's Australian Open final against Andy Murray.
Serena Williams plays thru a cold and other issues to hoist the winners trophy again! Sharapova was a very gracious runner up.

G'day. Good night. Good something wherever you are. We have spent the night celebrating the ladies doubles win. What a night. Global chick had finally put her nose to the net versus hanging with the Hollywood awards season and global art and fashion shows.
It should have been an epic. It really should have been. This Global Chick has said it before – sometimes you see the best fights in the semi-finals. The Novak Djokovic and Stan Wawrinka show was not. It was, instead, a moody exchange of nerves jangling, racquets flinging, and more by luck than anything else...
As Novak Djokovic and Stan Wawrinka ready for their semi-final match Friday evening under the lights on Rod Laver Arena, expectations are high. Not only are both players in top form, having torn through their respective Australian Open draws, but they have also provided show-stopping performances in Melbourne over the past two years.
Andy Murray’s point in the direction of his box after punching his ticket to a fourth Australian Open final on Thursday seemed to say it all. The Scot’s camp could breathe a sigh of relief after watching Murray defeat World No. 7 Tomas Berdych 6-7(6), 6-0, 6-3, 7-5 in a thrilling semi-final match that featured equal parts drama and intensity.
