I sunk my teeth into the AO really for the 1st time last night. What with the extreme time difference here in NY, plus my teaching schedule, I didn’t get a chance to watch too much of the tennis, so, while following all the results (on 10sBalls_com of course), I didn’t get much of a feel yet for the tournament.
Under the unbearably strong heat of the Melbourne sun in front of a packed Rod Laver Arena, world number one Simona Halep’s quest for a maiden Grand Slam title marched on, but not without some strength and heart along the way.
Sending yet another message that he is not satisfied with "only" 19 Grand Slam titles, Federer turned in another stellar performance to beat Richard Gasquet 6-2, 7-5, 6-4 on Saturday night during third-round action at the Australian Open.
