The last American remaining in the men's singles draw at the U.S. Open got bounced on out on Tuesday afternoon, as John Isner succumbed to Juan Martin Del Potro 6-7(5), 6-3, 7-6(3), 6-2.
No postponements due to darkness like at the French Open like at Wimbledon. No 11:00 p.m. curfew like at Wimbledon. No other slam does late-night tennis quite like the U.S. Open and Australian Open, and the U.S. Open did it the right way again on Tuesday...er, make that Wednesday morning.

A pair of intriguing matchups remain in the top half of the U.S. Open men's singles draw. Kicking off quarterfinal action on Tuesday are Rafael Nadal vs. Dominic Thiem and Juan Martin Del Potro vs. John Isner.
The quarterfinal at the top of the U.S. Open draw was supposed to be a rematch of the 2017 final. Instead, it will be a rematch of the 2018 French Open final.
