Rafael Nadal still has several significant roadblocks in his potential path to the Australian Open title, but he is arguably the tournament favorite after overcoming an especially big one--literally--in the quarterfinals on Wednesday night.
What an Australian Open semifinal lineup this is. The clock has been turned back, to the extent that three of the semifinalists are in their 30s (and six if you count the women's side!), and the other is a 26-year-old who has already endured as many career peaks and valleys as most grizzled veterans.

Rafael Nadal avoided a second consecutive five-set match by finishing off Gael Monfils 6-3, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 in round four of the Australian Open on Monday night.
The Australian Open quarterfinals will get underway on Tuesday, when there will be a decidedly Swiss flavor on the court.
