What a tremendous victory for the US Davis Cup team! Some questioned Captain Courier's wisdom in putting Mardy Fish back on the court in the doubles after pulling off a compelling 9-7 in the fifth, 5-hour, comeback win against Stan Wawrinka yesterday in Fribourg.
I got up a little late this morning and went to check the progress of the Davis Cup. First I signed on to the Davis Cup site to see the progress of the matches around the world. BTW, the Davis Cup site is great for giving you up to date, live statistics of all the matches around the world.
Just a little reminder to all you tennis junkies out there. There is a bit of a let down for all of us after the Australian Open.

We've seen some phenomenal tennis the last couple of days and nights from Australia. This second week of the Australian Open has been one of the best ever.
I was really glad to see that my prediction that the crowd would be a big factor was dead wrong. I overlooked the fact that the Aussies are too fair for that.
We are down to the quarters. Everyone in the last 8 has earned their spot by going through 4 matches in the main draw. However, some have arrived with more convincing victories than others.
The Women's Quarterfinals could easily go completely according to form; that is, the top 4 seeds appear likely to fulfill their placements and reach the semifinals, with one possible exception.
