Another day of delayed starts in Melbourne as the rain continued to make its presence felt, but with three roofed courts, (that were mostly planned for hot sun and heat conditions) fans (especially with ground passes to get into Hisense area) were assured of some tennis to start their day.
Drizzle and toast. These are valuable life lessons to learn for a Global Chick in Melbourne. Firstly the drizzle that doesn’t worm into every inch of you like British drizzle.
Rain, vegemite and never trust a coffee machine over a proper Barista. That’s this morning’s life lessons ahead of day three, but lucky for us there are stadium roofs in Australia.
Well the hits just keep on coming don’t they? Hot on the heels of Rafael Nadal’s taxi back to the players’ hotel was World No. 2, second seed and big banana-in-waiting Simona Halep.

Global Chick here and reporting and still really suffering from the jetlag. It still stalks like a lion who hasn’t had a snack in quite a long while (rather like a good night’s sleep!). The tennis players feel it too.
So jetlag is losing, but the weather is winning as continuous wet stuff leaked from the skies in the morning and with it a slew of bad news all round for the WTA.
The Sunshine State was cloudy today as the Brisbane draw rumbled forward on all fronts, but there was no shortage of star quality out and about.

It was as if Friday had just been a prelude to a big party, when the revised Belgian team of Steve Darcis and David Goffin lined up to take on the Murray Brothers.
And so it was ever thus, but with a twist as Brit new-boy Kyle Edmund gave the hosts a right fright, taking the first two sets off the Belgian No.1 David Goffin.
