The USTA Nominating Committee has announced the nomination of Katrina M. Adams as USTA Chairman of the Board, CEO and President to serve a two-year term beginning January 1, 2015. Adams has served on the USTA Board of Directors for 10 years and is currently completing a two-year term as First Vice President.

The Australian Open has increased its travel allowance for players, giving more than $1,088,000 to assist with expenses for coming for the tournament. Grand Slams almost always shake things up in the rankings because so many points are available compared to other tournaments. This time around, the Australian Open did not have a massive impact. The Australian Open has come and gone, with the Happy Slam giving way to what is often perceived as a not-so-happy month in the tennis world. In a sense, we are in the calm after the storm.
