10sBalls Team Takes on Maui  |

After a crazy year for our key staffers Pancho is taking a group on a much deserved vacay. That’s the good news. We covered every slam. Pancho started the year in Australia. He and  “Old Pro ” we’re spoiled in Melbourne. Their trip started at the Kooyong tennis museum with a special delivery of a Mark Woodfords  Wilson weird racket to be added to the museum. Then they toured the museum and saw many fantastic items. It’s a fairly new museum but very well done. They were treated like royalty at the Kooyong  club and the classic. It’s such a totally charming and magical place. They then enjoyed their first auzzie open. I’m not sure what it was ? The flies ? The entire event is a blur to them. I’ve heard what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas … Poor Prince  Harry. … But what happens down under stays down under?

The team crunched three strong thru Indian wells and Miami and Boise was all Shubert. Honolulu is home to Shubert but he is busy training to play a tourney in California to try to add to his ATP points. Good luck Thomas. With mucho aloha.
The team then headed to Europe. All new adventures and travel obstacles  good and bad. Lost luggage. Cancelled flights. Hotel room mistakes that required one of our people to change hotels three times one week during Queens. New foods. New experiences hourly. Favorite little event had to be “The Boodles ” held @ Stoke Park. A very elegant and flexible Wimbledon warm up. The brilliant Eleanor Preston and Faye  put on a first rate event.

We covered the hard courts starting at Cincinnati. (Yes, Tommy it’s a nice place to be from ) we had a super time in Mason, Ohio. We were hosted by a true guardian of the game. Shuberts first coach and Svens  best friend the amazing Tex Swain. ( yes bro to Gary Swain  super agent ) Are they really brothers ? Same parents ? We had an amazing trip. The tourney and hospitality were fantastic.
New York City. That wore us down. Thanks mostly to the “undertakers ” at the USTA.

The US Open is truly an amazing event. It is overpriced. It was poorly scheduled. It is not an event for the general population. It needs a bigger sliding scale for ticket prices. Grounds passes should be a price of a movie ? Those big balls that every kid wants should be sold at cost. A loss leader ? Planting seeds for future growth in the sport ? Not a bad thought. Growth in the sport ?

So know you know why the team is on yet another plane ? Mileage. We had it. We used it. Off we go to paradise for a week.  We deserve it. Our year isn’t over yet. We are going full force to London again for the ATP  year end championships. Lost luggage ? Who cares. We have our shorts and flip flops.
