Ken Thomas’ Quick Take:
“Yesterday was a strange day over here on Court 13. I thought the matches in general, were poorly played, but they were extremely close and extremely competitive. Not every match can be a thing of beauty but when you’re playing in the US Open you just have to grind it out. That’s what yesterday was all about…the grind…effort and survival.”
“RadioTennis.com is web casting from Court 13 which is just a wonderful intimate court. It’s a tiny Grand Stand Court with shade and that sits just behind the massive 22,500 seat Authur Ashe Stadium. I think Court 13 is the most spectator-friendly court here. Plus, there’s a guy selling Ben & Jerry’s ice cream right outside the entrance. “
” I’m staying with an old University of Wisconsin tennis teammate of mine while I am broadcasting the Open. My buddy opens his house to a few of players every year as well. This year Natalia Petrova is staying there. I saw her last night and talked with her for a few minutes. She looked great. Very happy and pleasant. You know, an Olympic Bronze Metal from London will do that to you.”
“Another beautiful day here at the Open. Sunny, hot, sticky and humid.
“Let’s do this…Click-On and join us live from from the friendly confines of Court 13. I’ll buy you an ice cream.”
