La Costa followed the traditional path in seeking automobile sponsors for a tennis event.

The automobile industry is a must-have in tennis sponsorships. For majors, the targets are automobile companies while automobile zonal dealers are targets for lower level tournaments. In addition to zonal groups, a multiple dealer ownership in a region is also an attractive sponsorship target.

The Southern California Open, a WTA Premier 700 tennis event which will be played at the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa, July 27-August 4, has announced that Mossy Automotive Group will be the official car sponsor of the women’s professional tennis tournament.

Mossy Automotive Group, a family owned and operated business, has fifteen automobile dealerships located across San Diego County and offers brands such as Ford, Toyota, Volkswagen, BMW, Honda and more. The company has been committed to serving their valued customers since 1921.

Highlighting this year’s Southern California Open player field will be current No. 3 and 2013 Australian Open champion Victoria Azarenka of Belarus and newly-crowned Wimbledon champion Marion Bartoli of France, ranked No. 7 in the world. Among the other entries are defending tournament champion and World No. 21 Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia and 2011 tournament champion Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland, who is ranked No. 4 in the world.
