Rafael Nadal on his stunning upset at the hands of Steve Darcis: “Nobody remembers the loses,” “People remember the victories. And I don’t want to remember that (loss).” . . .

John Isner said that that the guys in the locker room were shocked by the Spaniard defeat. “He’s been the best player in the world this year, and that’s with missing Australia, too,” He’s only lost two matches, right? I don’t care what the surface is, it’ll be a big shocker So much for that Roger vs. Rafa,” . . . Nadal, who has been saddled with knee trouble, refused to say which warm-up tournament(s) he will play before the US Open as he said that he wants to take a hard look at his schedule the rest of the year, but it appears that he will at least play either Montreal or Cincinnati and he did say in Spanish that he is definitely planning on contesting the US Open. He believes that he has chances to play very well there. Interestingly, even though Nadal has complained about the pounding that his knees take on hard courts, he said that he knew that grass would be his most challenging surface because he is forced to bend into low positions, which presumably could cause pain in his knees. . . No. 3 Victoria Azarenka, who overcame what looked to be a severe right knee injury in the second set of her victory over Maria Joao Koehler in the first round of Wimbledon, dropped a bit of a bombshell when she revealed that one of the reason she had breathing problems in her controversial win over Sloane Stephens in the semifinals of the Australian Open when she took an untimely medical timeout was she lately discovered she had a virus. The eventual champion had never revealed that before. . . It appears that Hawk Eye eventually be expanded to all of Wimbledon s courts. Britain s James Ward said that the players saw a big plan of what they’re planning to do or the next few years. It’ll reach the outside courts as well. . . Jaime Hampton reached a career high No. 25 by reaching the Eastbourne final but fell to Sloane Stephens in the first round of Wimbledon She admitted she tired after playing endlessly since the start of May and can’t wait to go home, joking that when she lands in the US she will kiss the ground. Her real plan is to visit Alabama and see her mother, whom she has not seen in a couple of months. . . Caroline Wozniacki won’t say what type of unbranded racket she is playing with and continues to mention that she is under contract to Yonex but some member of the Danish press have written that she is actually playing with Babolat. . .

Former top 10 player Andrea Petkovic, who won her first round match at Wimbledon, has a curious relationship with the grass. It awkwardly has to do with the head a lot, she said. “Normally when I went into the grass season I was already pissed before I hit one ball. This time I was just in this whole mood of gratefulness for my second chance career I was just like, Okay, you’re just going to go for the grass and love it and try to start a romance with it. If it didn’t want you, you’re going to force it to love back. It’s never going to be my favorite surface, but as I said, I’m working at least on a romance.
