Day 2 Melbourne

Good morning Melbourne! Mats and I had our breakfast at the top of Melbourne! It is great way to start the day, but as we were enjoying the food we could see that the weather was not looking to good!

We had planned to start the day with Sorana at 11 at Albert Reserve but due to the rain we decided to go back to the site and as it was looking very poor and about 400 players and their entourage were waiting for the rain to stop. So we told her to head back to the hotel and save some energy and come back later in the day!

At 1 pm we had practice session with Caroline Wozniacki and Fernando Verdasco! Fernando asked if he could hit with Caroline as he could not get a court due to the overload of players! Prior to the practice Caroline slid off the treadmill and ended up with a 2 inch cut in her chin but Caro is as tough as they come and she was patched up and got ready for her hit! They really had a great session (check out their great video below)!

In between sessions other players were requesting time and scheduling their hits for the coming days! Rain had not stopped and the qualifying event that was supposed to start today did not get a chance to have one match finish!

The 2nd hit of Caroline was planned at the (Rod Laver arena) center court and luckily this court has a retractable roof! She hit with another player to get some more points played after her loss in Sydney!

Sorana came back to hit indoors (as the Aussie open does provide 6 indoor courts on site to hit on, incase of rain), again she did have a great hit and is recovering nicely but was full of energy due to the fact that she went back to the hotel instead staying around to chit chat!

Tomorrow will be another day of rain and we have our full program planned with also Maria Kirilenko and Ayumi Morita coming in! “The Key” is to remain focused and disciplined as more things can wrong than right in these circumstances!

To be honest I never ever attended a full weekend of Davis Cup. So that is why I needed to take my parents as they also never experienced this phenomenon.
