Singles – Second Round: (2) Roberta Vinci def. Yulia Putintseva 6-3 5-7 6-2

Try as they might, they can’t seem to catch up around here. Roberta Vinci had to play only one set of this, but she didn’t get to complete her quarterfinal, so she will have to play two on Friday.

Singles – Second Round: Jamie Hampton def. (5) Kirsten Flipkens 6-4 3-6 7-5

This costs Kirsten Flipkens her Top Twenty chance, but at least she’s getting some rest….

Singles – Quarterfinal: (8) Shuai Peng def. (4) Sloane Stephens 6-2 6-3

Sloane Stephens loses another chance to rise above #17 — but it appears Peng Shuai will hit the Top 25; Julia Goerges is out.

Singles – Second Round: Romina Oprandi def. Jie Zheng 6-3 3-6 6-0

It’s too late to help her at Roland Garros now, but Romina Oprandi is now above #35. A final would make her Top Thirty.

Doubles – Quarterfinal: (2) Groenefeld/Peschke def. Klemenschits/Klepac 6-2 6-2

Doubles – Quarterfinal: (4) Govortsova/Rosolska def. Melnikova/Sasnovich 6-2 6-2

Doubles – Quarterfinal: Dabrowski/Peer def. Flipkens/Rybarikova 7-5 7-5

Strasbourg

Singles – Quarterfinal: (3) Alize Cornet def. (7) Chanelle Scheepers 6-3 6-1

Alize Cornet is now the only seed left here, so she is the obvious favorite — and she’ll have only one match to play on Friday, while her potential final opponents must play two. Which is fortunate for her, because she is still below #35 in safe points.

Singles – Quarterfinal: Eugenie Bouchard def. Anna Tatishvili 6-3 6-2

A modest breakthrough for Eugenie Bouchard, but she faces Cornet next. On the other hand, she was the only player to finish before rain again interfered with things….

Doubles – Quarterfinal: (2) Grandin/Uhlirova def. Maria/Paszek 1-6 6-4 10-2

Doubles – Quarterfinal: Barrois/Buryachok def. Bouchard/Pekhova 7-6.(3) 4-6 10-7
