Jelena Dokic May Attempt Another Comeback

It may seem like former top-5 player Jelena Dokic has retired, but she has not, even though she hasn’t played a match since April 2012 and underwent wrist surgery last year.

According to The Australian, the 30-year-old Dokic is currently living in Croatia with her longtime boyfriend, Tin Bikic. She is now training in Germany after spending an unsuccessful week in Florida hitting at an IMG camp with some younger players.

She says that she will try and use her protracted ranking to get into some WTA tournament in June, but doubts that she will try and qualify for Wimbledon.

“I don’t think so. I have been out for too long,” she said. “I am starting with smaller events to get some more matches. Then I will see where I am at. At this stage, it is all about being healthy.”

Dokic, whose notorious father Damir was once banned from the WTA for bad behavior, didn’t want to comment on the assault allegations that Bernard Tomic’s father John is facing.

“This is a sensitive matter for everybody,” Dokic said. “They all have to figure it out. For me, some time has passed and some issues that I have had we have worked out. I just don’t feel like it is time to talk about this stuff.”
