—- Latest Update: Ivo and his wife Alison have just released a statement saying “Ivo did not have a stroke, as some outlets have stated: rather he has viral meningitis. We ask for privacy during his recovery processand thank everyone for their support and well wishes.” Typical recovery time from viral meningitis where symptoms can be similar to those of a stroke, is 2-3 weeks. —
Ivo Karlovic, the 34-year-old Croatian tennis player known for his 6-foot-10 frame and big serve has been admitted to a Miami hospital with what was initially thought to be a mild stroke.
Karlovic’s father Vlado, though understandably upset, confirmed the reports to the press and said that he, along with Ivo’s wife Alison and daughter Jada are still awaiting a definitive diagnosis from doctors. While many reports surfacing are saying it was a mild stroke, doctors are now saying it is more likely some kind of brain infection brought on by an insect bite.
We here at 10sballs.com are sending our thoughts out to the Karlovic family during this time and will be sure to keep you posted if further details are released.
