Casablanca

Singles – First Round: (7) R Haase def. R Bautista Agut 6-3 2-6 7-5

Robin Haase has a shot at returning to the Top Fifty this week, although this isn’t going to do it.

Singles – First Round: K de Schepper def. S Darcis 6-3 6-4

Kenny de Schepper came in at #102. It doesn’t seem likely that first round points will be enough to put him in the Top Hundred, but it won’t take much more.

Singles – Second Round: (1) (WC) S Wawrinka def. B Kavcic 4-6 6-2 6-1

Stanislas Wawrinka’s best surface is probably clay, but the first match of the year is always tough. The good news is, if he can win any more, the points will count, although he needs a title to move in the rankings.

Singles – Second Round: (4) B Paire def. A Bedene 4-6 6-4 6-3

Benoit Paire defends his points. Even one more win would probably put him in the Top Thirty.

Singles – Second Round: G Garcia-Lopez def. E Roger-Vasselin 6-7(4-7) 7-6(7-3) 6-2

It’s lucky for Guillermo Garcia-Lopez that he gets a day off after this; he faces Wawrinka next.

Singles – Second Round: T Robredo def. T Kamke 6-4 7-5

Tommy Robredo is up to #72, so this might be enough to take him past the #70 mark.

Doubles – First Round: (1) Knowle/Polasek def. Emmrich/Junaid 6-7(5-7) 7-6(7-4) 12-10

Doubles – First Round: Brown/Kas def. (2) Dlouhy/Hanley 3-6 7-5 10-6

Doubles – First Round: (4) Bracciali/Starace def. Elgin/Skupski 6-7(4-7) 7-6(8-6) 10-8

Doubles – First Round: Bedene/Bednarek def. Andujar/Garcia-Lopez 7-6(7-3) 6-0 .

Houston (so far)

Singles – First Round: R Ramirez Hidalgo def. S Devvarman 7-6(7-5) 6-0

Somdev Devvarman will surely never be a fan of clay, but there was obviously more than that troubling him here.

Singles – First Round: M Alund def. L Hewitt 4-6 6-3 6-1

Martin Alund continues to make a case for a “most improved player” award. He doesn’t seem to be too interested in playing the big events — note that he took direct entry here rather than trying Monte Carlo qualifying. But he can hardly expect to skip Roland Garros! It will be interesting to see how he does there.

Doubles – First Round: Huey/Inglot def. Verdasco/Zverev 6-3 2-6 10-5
