Singles – Semifinal: (1) Serena Williams def. (4) Agnieszka Radwanska 6-0 6-3

There isn’t much to say about this except that it let everyone get a good night’s rest. Serena Williams has already clinched #1; defending champion Agnieszka Radwanska will stay #4 although her grip on that ranking is now much weaker.

Singles – Semifinal: (3) Maria Sharapova def. (22) Jelena Jankovic 6-2 6-1

Jelena Jankovic had had a long, hard, late match the round before. Little wonder that she didn’t seem to have anything left for this. And she clearly didn’t. She still did well enough to move herself back up to #18. It’s at least a small positive.
