Indian Wells
Early Matches
Singles – Fourth Round: (2) R Federer def. (18) S Wawrinka 6-3 6-7(4-7) 7-5
Roger Federer’s back is a little bit off, and it perhaps affected him slightly; he had a bad first couple of games before taking charge. Then, as he was on the verge of winning the match, he lost control again, and Stanislas Wawrinka won the second set. Federer struggled through the third, too, but he leaves his countryman still near the bottom of the Top Twenty. Federer’s own fate remains in the air; Andy Murray could still take the #2 ranking from him here.
Singles – Fourth Round: (6) T Berdych def. (10) R Gasquet 6-1 7-5
Once again Richard Gasquet loses any chance to rise above #10. Tomas Berdych again stays ahead of Juan Martin del Potro in the contest for #6.
Singles – Fourth Round: (8) J Tsonga def. (17) M Raonic 4-6 7-5 6-4
So very, very close for Milos Raonic, but he loses his chance to reach the Top Fifteen.
Singles – Fourth Round: K Anderson def. (13) G Simon 6-3 1-6 6-4
Kevin Anderson must want a Miami seed. He’s put himself back into the Top Thirty (meaning that Mikhail Youzhny is out). This leaves Gilles Simon still at #13 — which in turn clinches that Richard Gasquet will stay Top Ten.
Doubles – Quarterfinal: S Gonzalez/Lipsky def. Dodig/Melo 4-6 6-3 10-5
