Each week, Daily Tennis will look at the biggest movers of the week, looking at how they did what they did.

Biggest Upward Mover — Most Places Moved (Top 100)

Leader: Bernard Tomic — Moved 21 places, from #64 to #43.

Tomic won Sydney for his first-ever title.

Runner-Up: Jesse Levine — Moved 16 places, from #104 to #88

Levine qualified for Auckland and made the quarterfinal, and he was at a good spot in the rankings.

Biggest Percentage Mover — Cut Ranking By Highest Percent (Top 100)

Leader: Tomic, cut ranking 33%

Runner-Up: Levine, 15%

Biggest Loser — Most Places Lost (Top 100)

Loser: Olivier Rochus — Dropped 37 places, from #89 to #126

Rochus was a finalist last year; this year, he lost second round.

Biggest Percentage Loser — Worst Percentage Increase in Ranking (Top 100)

Loser: Jarkko Nieminen, ranking increased 26 places, 59%, from #44 to #70.

Nieminen won Sydney last year; this year, he lost in the quarterfinal to Tomic.

Ranking Notes

It was a typical week of 250 point events: Not much happened. Nieminen fell 59%, and Rochus 42%, but no one else fell more than 13%. And Tomic was the only player to rise more than 15%; indeed, only Tomic, Levine, Kevin Anderson (up 14%, to #31), Gael Monfils (up 13%, to #86), and Xavier Malisse (up 11%, to #55) managed to rise more than 9%.

Our Personal Picks for “Best Mover of the Week”

These are subjective picks!

Clearly Tomic; he had the biggest move and he won his first title.
