After starting the year with Claudio Pistolesi as her coach, former top 5 player Daniela Hantuchova is working out at the Academia Sanchez-Casal in Barcelona with coach Eduardo Nicholas. Hantuchova experienced a stress fracture in her foot during 2012 and saw her ranking drop to No. 32 by year end.
“We are focusing on her mobility on the court so that Daniela can make the best use of her technical talent,” he told La Marca.
Hantuchova worked with Nicholas in 2007 and said she enjoyed the experience.
“I feel very comfortable training with Eduardo, and with Angel Eduardo Gimenez or Emilio Sanchez Vicario. I am very grateful for all I’ve learned with them.”
After winning Pattaya City in February, the Slovak lost her way and even when she returned after her foot trouble couldn’t rediscover her form. In 2012, she suffered 10 first round losses. She will turn 30 in April, but she still thinks she can make an impact on tour.
“I want to be back the Top-Ten,” she said.
