Martina Navratilova and Martina Hingis have signed on to play the World Tennis Challenge exhibition in Adelaide, January 8-10.
“We’ve been discussing adding women for a year now,” Woodforde Adelaide tournament director Mark Woodforde said. “We don’t want the product to become worn out. We want to stay one step ahead.
Hingis will be making her debut in the city. “I’ve heard all about the event from some of the guys and it sounds such a unique and exciting event,” she said. “It is the perfect combination of some great tennis and fun entertainment. In all our time on the tour (Martina and I) never really got to play against each other so it’s always a special moment when we meet across the net these days.”
The men’s field includes Alexandr Dolgopolov, Stanislas Wawrinka, Viktor Troicki and Marinko Matosevic, as well as legends Pat Cash, Henri Leconte, Mats Wilander, Yannick Noah and Mansour Bahrami.
