Day 5 With Sven  |

Wind and more sun are making it a tough day today as the heat is starting to pick up! Normally we have to deal with high 30’s but for now it is in the high 20’s! On the news the flooding across Australia is the big story but their water reservoir, which was depleted, has been restored and we probably are going to have the heat in Melbourne!

Most players are here now in Sydney and booking practice courts is tricky! Normally players tend to hit with their coach but today all players were doubled up and could only hit for 1 session!

Also the players’ lounge is packed and if you compare it with my first picture you can understand the differences!

The history is on the wall as you walk up to the players’ lounge and its tradition that keeps me in the game and my passion for the sport when I see the wall of fame!

Both Sorana Cirstea and Aranxta Rus had to play 3rd after 10 and if they would both win they would play against each other! This would mean I could not attend the match because both players are with Adidas!

Unfortunately Aranxta lost in 3 tough sets but Sorana came through in 2!, after being down 4-1 in the first set! I went on court to have a chat and set out a clear strategy for her. She was able to turn it around after being down 5-2 and then she won 7-5 6-3 against a top 50 player!  Tomorrow she will play her last round of qualies!

Tomorrow the main draw will start, but unfortunately Ana Ivanovic had to withdraw. She told me she is disappointed that she cannot be in Sydney because she loves this city! Maria Kirilenko and Caroline will be coming in tomorrow from their exhibition tournament in Hong Kong and most likely Daniela Hantuchova will have to play but that is if her injury permits her to do so (She had to withdraw last week form Brisbane)!

Much to look forward to tomorrow and had a good day today! Thanks again for paying a visit!
