The Qatar Tennis Federation announced the names of the players who be given a wild card to participate in the 2011 Qatar ExxonMobil Open that will be held in the period between 3-8 January.
Four Qatari Players were given wild cards to take part in the qualifying round that starts on Saturday January 1st. Moussa Shannan, Jabr Al Mutowa, Abdul Rahman Hareb and Mubarak Shannan will have the opportunity of gaining more experience by taking part in a big ATP Tour Tournament like Qatar ExxonMobil Open.
Meanwhile, the three who were given main draw wild cards are Morrocan Reda Al Amrani, Egyptian Shrief Sabri and Ukranian Sergei Bubka.
Al Amrani and Sabri are taking part in the tournament according to a deal between QTF and the Egyptian and Morrocan tennis federation, that will allow Qatari players to take part in the international tennis tournaments held at both countries.
23-years-old Bubka is the son of pole vault legend Sergei Bubka who also holds the role of vice-president of IAAF, and is currently ranked at no 321 in the ATP rankings.
“Qatari players will surely benefit from taking part in the qualifying stage of a big tournament like Qatar ExxonMobil Open”, said QTF President and head of the organizing committee Mr. Nasser Al Khelaifi.
He also added that “cooperation with other Arab federations aims at giving their players more experience and also allows our players to get the invaluable experience of taking part in tournaments abroad”.
