Former world No.8 Alicia Molik will open the Australian Open Play-off tomorrow, with matches commencing at 10.00am at Melbourne Park, and free entry for spectators.
Top seeded Molik commences her Australian Open campaign against 19-year-old Jade Hopper, playing on Court 8 which will also be live streamed on http://www.tennis.com.au/. Fans are invited to join the conversation online through facebook and twitter.
A reinvigorated Jelena Dokic, the No.3 seed, faces 16-year-old Viktorija Rajicic who has spent most of 2010 working on her transition to the professional tour.
Next up on the TV court is No.2 seed Sophie Ferguson (NSW) up against Queensland’s Monika Wejnert who made an instant name for herself when she reached the final of the 2008 Play-off, losing in three tight sets to Dokic.
The final showcase match is between former world No.1 junior Jason Kubler (Qld) and another rising star, Sean Berman (Vic), who last week won the Optus 18s Australian Championships.
