Playing in front of home crowds can very rewarding but also at times difficult when fans become disappointed or out of hand. That’s what Japan ‘s Kimiko Date-Krumm found out on Monday playing in Tokyo during her 6-1 6-4 loss to Marion Bartoli.
The 41-year-old Date-Krumm kicked an advertising board and left the court very upset at a fan, yelling at him during the match and even glaring at him before she exited.
“I was told there was a drunk fan,” she said. “You’re focusing so hard and it’s extremely disappointing when people who are supposed to be supporting you are drunk and shouting when you hit the ball.”
