Kim Clijsters has arrived in Doha ready to compete in the year-end Championships, aiming to win the title for the third time after lifting the trophy in Los Angeles in 2002 and 2003.
It is the first time she has played in the Middle East, as she is almost the only top player never to have taken part in the Dubai Championships regular tour event. Since arriving she has been making herself busy conducting a kid’s tennis clinic.
Before she left home, she joined husband Brian and daughter Jade in hosting an amazing 10,000 children at the Plopsaland theme park in Belgium.
“We had a great day, Brian enjoyed the attractions and Jada was over the moon!,” Clijsters wrote on her website. “It was great to see so many children have fun at the same time. Their happy faces have turned this into a day we will not forget very easily.”
