Leaving Paris or a grand slam a never easy unless you walk a way with a title.
The First week and half (qualifying and early rounds main draw) was al about the sun and the hot weather the end of it was rain and heavy conditions and matches being longer than anticipated caused matches to be postponed to the next day!
I did make onto one center court practice with Caroline and it is one of my favorite aspects of the job is to have the honor of being on these special courts!
In the daily program (last week) on the mid Saturday they asked if it was the year of Maria in Paris? Well I believe she is definitely the favored for the final tomorrow and something crazy must happen for her not to win “the Maria Slam”
I was also happy my Parents made it for 1 day to Paris on invitation of adidas. After working 7 years for adidas I thought it would be great for them to experience the adidas lounge experience as well my tennis academy partner Roland and a great tennis friend Max were guest of adidas.
Besides working with Anastasia and Floris (who were staying in Paris for a few extra days to prepare for the grass with mats and I). Maikel en Esther also arrived in the 2nd week to prepare for their tournament. Additional activities were “court hopping” in search for the next generation of players during the junior tournament.
On Wednesday the 6th of June we had the annual adidas lounge party (this takes place in the lounge at the end of the day when play is finished). Mats Floris and I were the bartenders and served many of the adidas guest their drinks (including over 50 bottles of Champagne)
Yesterday was my day of culture and visited the “Grand Palais” with an exhibition of Daniel Buren “monumenta 2012. Together with Mats and his girlfriend Sophia.
Now in the train with my bags packed and another French Open behind me with Esther Winning her title today I can look back and leave Paris with a great feeling.
