Kvitova, the reigning Wimbledon champion, defeated Williams in their lone meeting four years ago in Memphis. Following the women’s clash, world No. 2 Rafael Nadal begins his quest for a first title at Crandon Park against Santiago Giraldo. Nadal is a three-time event runner-up, having lost to Novak Djokovic in last year’s final.
