Mixed Doubles – Final: (8) Mattek-Sands/Tecau def. (5) Vesnina/Paes 6-3 5-7 10-3 (Match TB)

It must be an awful choice, trying to decide whether to team up with Elena Vesnina to play doubles at a Slam. On the one hand, few players are more likely to get you to a final. On the other, once you get there, you’re in big trouble.

Or maybe Vesnina and Leander Paes were blinded by Bethanie Mattek-Sands’s latest outfit, which featured among other things a bright green dress and purple in her hair.

In any case, this Open of Upsets ended with yet another, as Mattek-Sands and Horia Tecau each won a first Slam of any kind. For Mattek-Sands, the result puts her in our Mixed Top Ten:
