Anna Kournikova is leaving ‘The Biggest Loser’ after just one season as head trainer on the weight loss reality show, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
“I enjoyed my time on ‘The Biggest Loser,'” Kournikova said in a statement. “Although I will not be returning as a full time trainer on season 13, I will always be a part of ‘The Biggest Loser’ family and my commitment to bettering lives through health and fitness will continue.”
Sources close to NBC, the show’s network, have said that Kournikova was “a nightmare” to work with and others complained she was unsympathetic to contestants. However one contestant, Joe Mitchell whose weight fell from 348 to 269 pounds, says he’s grateful to Kournikova because she was able to “fix my thinking.”
“Anna made me believe that I could (lose weight),” he says. “She drilled in our heads that the only person you can really rely on is yourself.”
