On an outside court with matches going on all around them, Karolina and Kristyna Pliskova lost to Kveta Peschke and Katarina Srebotnik in the second round of the China Open.
The womens doubles players faced off at court three of the China Open on Oct. 4.
Both pairs showed teamwork throughout the match by talking after points and supporting each other with handclaps.
Peschke and Srebotnik were on target with their net gaming hitting a winning volley in game eight of the first set. Peschke and Srebotnik won the first set at (6-2).
The Pliskova sisters won match points in games two and three of set two to lead the set at (3-0). With a good net game by Peschke and Srebotnik and strong serves by Pliskova and Pliskova the second set ended in Pliskova (6-4).
Peschke and Srebotnik took the lead in the tie-breaker as the Pliskova sisters struggled to win points. Peschke and Srebotnik won the tie-breaker at (10-4), making them the winners of the match.
On court one, Shuai Peng and Jie Zheng defeated Maria-Jose Martinez Sanchez and Klara Zakopalova in sets of (6-2) and (6-3).
Other women doubles matches held Oct. 4 included Yung-Jan Chan and Lucie Hradecka vs. Liezel Huber and Lisa Raymond. Huber and Raymond won the match in sets of (7-5) and (6-3).
On court five Raquel Kops-Jones and Abigail Spears defeated Iveta Benesova and Barbora Zahlavova Strycova in sets of (6-1) and (6-4).
