The World No. 12 ranked doubles team Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski of Poland took out the Indian team of Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi today 6-4 7-6 (4).
Last year’s quarterfinalists and this year’s No. 6 seeds only dropped five points on their first serves in the one hour and 43 minutes encounter today. The Polish team will face the winner of Bopanna of India/Qureshi of Pakistan and the British team of Fleming/Hutchins, who are currently on court and playing the third set.
Unseeded Italians Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini overcame the No. 7 seeds Robert Lindstedt of Sweden and Horia Tecau of Romania 1-6 7-6 (7) 6-4. The Italians won a total of 92 points today, ten more than their opponents to move into the semi-finals.
Bolelli and Fognini will have to play well to defeat their next round opponents Jurgen Melzer of Austria and Philipp Petzschner of Germany. The No. 9 seeds showed no mercy when the destroyed David Marrero of Spain and Andreas Seppi of Italy 6-1 6-2 in just one hour.
Mixed Doubles
Melanie Oudin and Jack Sock got a walk over from Elena Vesnina of Russia and Leander Paes of India to reach the mixed doubles final. The unseeded Americans will face Argentinians Gisela Dulko and Eduardo Schwank in the final.
