Christina McHale yesterday pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the young tournament, defeating No. 8 seed Marion Bartoli, 7-6, 6-2, to set up a third-round encounter with No. 25 seed Maria Kirilenko tomorrow. The two players have never met before, but they’ll get a sneak peek at each other’s games today when McHale and partner Rebecca Marino take on Kirilenko and her partner, Nadia Petrova, the No. 5 seeds, in the first round of the women’s doubles.
