Canadian Tennis Update: Raining in Toronto and Clear in Montreal  |

Raining in Toronto. Clear in Montreal. Ok. Maybe we get it? Maybe not. We just saw Jo Willie Tsonga beat Fognini. It was a great first round match. Both guys outfitted in different but similar Adidas clothes. Both looked extremely handsome. Toby, good job on the colors and the three stripes logo that you incorporated.

We really like the players walking on court each with a kid. It’s super. The kids are on court for the coin toss. We saw Juan Martin Del Potro and Jarkko Nieminen walk on court with the kids. In was really sweet. Both players were nice to the kids.

We have had a lot of readers tell us our sport needs to be more fan friendly. They are right. Any and all thoughtful touches are appreciated by the fans. In Los Angeles we would have loved to see a different celebrity on court for each match. Who doesn’t enjoy a celebrity sighting … Every tourney needs an autograph booth that every hour has a player in the booth. … Ok back to Canada. Maybe I got carried away because Canada enjoys open thinking….

Completed matches: Michael Russell beat Montanes 7-5,6-3.

10sballs.com friend of site Paul Hanley and his partner Soares beat Almagro and Dlouhy.

Now on court Andy Murray is playing Kevin Anderson.

Later on court is Baghdatis versus Isner. That has the makings of a great match. Really should be super tennis.

Novak, “bounce bounce bounce” plays Nikolay Davydenko. Wow. That’s a tough match. Has potential to see the new number one lose?

Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes versus Berdych and Mayer. It’s really great to see the Indians playing together again. Their games are well suited. They both are tough competitors. Leander has been blessed with fast hands, quick eyes and reflexes. He is one of this mid thirty guys. …

Toronto sky’s have cleared. Play begins soon. Stay tuned.
