NEW HAVEN OPEN AT YALE PRESENTED BY FIRST NIAGARA CASTING CALL TO OFFER YOUNGSTERS CHANCE TO SING IN FRONT OF THOUSANDS AT 2011 TOURNAMENT

The New Haven Open at Yale presented by First Niagara announced that it will hold an open casting call for children 12 and under on Tuesday, July 26 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the historic Shubert Theater. The children will have an opportunity to compete for the chance to sing “America the Beautiful” at the tournament, a WTA event that is part of the Olympus US Open Series, to be held August 18-27, 2011 at the Connecticut Tennis Center at Yale.

For the third year of the competition, singer, actress and former Cheetah Girl Adrienne Bailon, will be part of a panel of celebrity judges. The Cheetah Girls were a Disney Channel staple, recording six albums and filming three films between 2003 and 2008. Adrienne is currently pursuing a solo career and is signed to Island Def Jam Records. Additional judges include WNTH’s Sonia Baghdady, KISS 95.7 on-air talent Brady and a First Niagara representative.

“The annual casting call for kids to sing at the New Haven Open is a great way to encourage local children to get involved in both music and sports,” said Tournament Director Anne Worcester. “The talent that comes out of this event is always outstanding and I am looking forward to hearing this year’s winners.”
