Mixed doubles.. mixed troubles. Mixed is a great game at a club level, but at the pro level it’s downright “rough”. You’ve got guys serving balls past the chicks, and at the chicks… You’ve got the chick at the net and the guy serving to guy and a second serve comes…. watch out at the net. The same if the chick is serving to a guy and your partner at the net has to face a return from your bloopy lob serve. …ouch.
Gussy (Gussie) Moran always said that Pancho Gonzales was the most polite mixed player ever. In 1949 Gussy (Gorgeous Gussie) won the U.S. Indoors with Pancho.
I’m looking at the 2011 Wimby mixed draw. Semis…. Mahesh Bhupathi and Vesnina are playing a great friend of 10sballs.com. Paul Hanley from Australia and Su-Wei Hsieh of Taipei. It should be a great match. Both “Hsiehesh” and” Pauly” have fast hands.
Funny to see two old road warriors together as a team in the men’s legends. Wayne Ferreira, (Geez was @ his wedding) and Yevgeny Kafelnikov. Both guys usually played 27-35 weeks a year, maybe more. Both played some doubles as well. Both played Davis Cup. Wayne for South Africa, and Yevgeny for Russia.
In the older gentlemen’s legends, we see Pat Cash and Mark Woodforde. Can’t wait till Todds old enough to play with Mark again…
Bryan Brothers are in the mens finals. They play the team of Robert Lindsted, and Horia Tecau. The number one seeds playing the number eight seeds. Good luck Bob and Mike.
