Bethanie Mattek -Sands lost a really close heartbreaker of a match to a young talented Japanese lefty qualifier named Doi. 6-4,5-7,7-5.
Laura Robson won a three setter against Kerber.
Azarenka beat Benesova o and 3.
Petkovic beat Dubois 3-6,6-4,6-3.
Heather Watson beat Johansson 2-6,6-4,6-4. That’s huge. It puts three British Chicks into the second round. Elena Baltacha “Bally” is the third lady from the United Kingdom to advance.
Venus Williams had a tough three set win over Kimiko Date Krumm. 8-6 in third.
Rebecca Marino lost to Roberta Vinci. Not a great day for the young Canadians. The Chicks lost and Dear Milos got injured. He looks so good on the grass. Reminds us of Richard Krajicek or a larger version of Roger Federer.
