Tennis features strongly in the 2015 Laureus Sports Awards nominations.
World No. 1 Novak Djokovic leads the way, having been nominated alongside the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Rory McIlroy in the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year category. The Serb previously won the award in 2012 after a remarkable 2011 campaign, which saw him win three Grand Slam championships and five ATP World Tour Masters 1000 titles. He was presented with the trophy by now-coach, Boris Becker.
Marin Cilic has been shortlisted for the Laureus Breakthrough of the Year Award. The Croat broke up the domination of the Big Four at the majors when he won his first Grand Slam championship at the 2014 US Open, beating Kei Nishikori in the final. The 26-year-old Cilic has been nominated alongside footballers Mario Gotze and James Rodriguez.
Roger Federer and Stan Wawrinka led Switzerland to Davis Cup glory for the first time in 2014 and the Swiss Davis Cup team has been rewarded with nominations in two categories: the Laureus Team of the Year Award and the Laureus Breakthrough of the Year Award, alongside Cilic.
The winners will be revealed at the Awards Ceremony in Shanghai on 15 April. To see the complete list of nominees: http://www.laureus.com/news/biggest-names-sport-celebrate-nomination-2015-laureus-world-sports-awards-0
