Eastbourne: I’m looking over the Ladies draw. There are some interesting first round matches. Li Na is the second seed and will face a qualifier…

Daniela Hantuchova also faces a qualifier. Ana Ivanovic plays Julia Goerges. Venus Williams plays Andrea Petkovic (” Bally”). Elena Baltcha Englands no. 1 plays Rezai of France while Heather Watson also of Great Britain plays Vera Zvonareva. And last but not least: Serena Williams plays a Bulgarian named Tsvetana Pironkova. Whew! Watson, Serena, and” Bally” all got wildcards to get in; I see Bethanie Mattek- Sands in the dubs but not in the singles. Why? I’ll keep looking… Ana playing Julia that could be a finals. Venus playing Petkovic, that could also be a finals. These are all tough first round matches. There is great depth in Ladies tennis, finally!!! However with Mens tennis, there has always been depth there: the fitness level was always great, it has turned up a notch! Don’t you think so? Let us know. One thing’s for sure, it will rain in London this week.
