NESTOR AND MIRNYI WIN THE FRENCH OPEN /NESTOR ET MIRNYI CHAMPIONS À ROLAND-GARROS | 
Montréal, June 4, 2011 –Daniel Nestor (Toronto, ON) and Max Mirnyi (Belarus) were victorious in Paris today, winning their first Grand Slam title since joining forces and adding a second crown to their first team win in Memphis in February.
The second-seeded pair defeated Juan Sebastian Cabal (Colombia) and Eduardo Schwank (Argentina) in 3 sets 7-6 (3) 3-6, 6-4. Nestor, who won the event last year with Nenad Zimonjic (Serbia), therefore retains his title as men’s doubles champion.
Cabal and Schwank are the first South Americans to reach a Grand Slam doubles final, and Nestor and Mirnyi’s experience proved to be a major factor in the match. Today’s win marks Daniel Nestor’s sixth French Open final. He now holds 73 titles, including seven Grand Slams.
Nestor also happens to be on a fantastic winning streak, earning his 800th career victory during the week and securing his place among the greatest doubles players of all time.
Montréal, 4 juin 2011 – Daniel Nestor (Toronto, ON) et le Bélarussien Max Mirnyi ont triomphé aujourd’hui à la porte d’Auteuil pour remporter leur premier titre d’une épreuve du Grand Chelem depuis qu’ils forment équipe. Cette victoire s’ajoute à leur premier titre conquis à Memphis, en février dernier.
En effet, les deuxièmes têtes de série ont pris la mesure du Colombien Juan Sebastian Cabal et de son partenaire argentin Eduardo Schwank en trois manches de 7-6 (3), 3-6, 6-4. Nestor, qui avait été couronné champion l’an dernier aux côtés du Serbe Nenad Zimonjic, conserve ainsi son titre.
L’expérience des champions a pesé lourd dans la balance alors que les Sud-Américains étaient les premiers de leur région à prendre part à une finale de double d’un tournoi Grand Chelem. Daniel Nestor atteignait la finale à e Roland-Garros pour une sixième fois. Ce nouveau gain représente un 73 titre de double et un septième en tournois du Grand Chelem.
Nestor poursuit sur sa lancée glorieuse, lui qui a célébré la 800 victoire de sa carrière au cours de la dernière quinzaine. Ce nouveau gain consolide sa place parmi les meilleurs joueurs de double de l’histoire du tennis.
