Final Facts
– Italy’s Brianti wins her first WTA singles title, from her second final. She was runner-up to Shahar Peer at Guangzhou in 2009.
– Brianti, who turned 31 on April 5, is the second oldest player to win a singles title so far this year. Greta Arn was 31 years 9 months when she triumphed in Auckland in January.
– Before this week, 94th-ranked Brianti had never won back-to-back main draw WTA matches on clay.
– Halep, 19, was playing the Fès final for the second consecutive year; last year, as a qualifier, she reached her first WTA final here, in what was just her third career main draw appearance (l. to Benesova). She is now 0-2 in finals.
– Top seeds Andrea Hlavackova and Renata Voracova win their first WTA title as a team; Hlavackova now owns six doubles titles while Voracova has seven.
