Milos Raonic (Thornhill, ON) had a tough task at hand on Thursday at the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters. He was trying to reach ATP Masters 1000 quarter-final and to do so he would have to take out World No. 6 David Ferrer.
This was already the second meeting between the two players this season after also playing eachother in the fourth round of the Australian Open, a match which Ferrer won in four sets. Raonic tried to avenge this defeat, but to no avail as the Spaniard showed why he is one of the best players in the world on clay. The 20-year-old
Canadian was limited to just one ace and has first serve percentage below 50 percent, ultimately falling 6-1, 6-3 to send Ferrer, who has already won two titles this season, into the quarter-finals.
Raonic will now head to Barcelona, Spain to play the Barcelona Open BancSabadell, an ATP World Tour 500 event which will begin next week.
