Victoria Azarenka is giving her loss at Eastbourne no more thought, with the former No. 1 player just pleased to be back on court and fighting for victories once again as the Wimbledon start looms on Monday.

Azarenka went down in her first match in more than three and a half months to Italian Camila Giorgi after returning from a foot injury. The Belarus player is not panicking about the job that lies ahead with the start of the grass-court major on Monday.

“I don’t have any more tournaments, so I’ve just got to go with it. The important thing is that I got one match, at least one match under my belt. I tested myself in competition, and that’s what I came here for. So we’ll see how it goes. I have a few days to work on things that, I took from today. We’ll see how it goes.”

Azarenka, a former Eastbourne finalist, said that with her foot no longer a concern, she can concentrate on regaining her match rhythm and instincts. “Now I’m able to move how I want and not have my face like this (flinching) every time I step. So it’s good.

“I was really happy that I was there (in the Eastbourne match of nearly three hours) for every single moment, for every single ball. I felt that my level of concentration was really high.

“As to the timing as mistakes, they were expected. I just have to get into that rhythm. But I felt I was handling myself really well today, that gives me good confidence moving forward. I’m up for the challenge. I love working hard. I love to accept challenges. It’s all good for me.”
